Health Research and Social Development Forum (HERD) is an independent, non-profit, non-political, professional non-governmental organization committed to quality Heath research and development works, focusing on the needs of the poorest of the poor.HERD is committed to working with a board vision in the field of health research andsocial development. We believe that our efforts will help to achieve a better quality of life for the Nepalese people.

Our Vision is a world that ensures health and well-being for the poor and vulnerable.Our Mission is to promote the Quality Health research and development works ensuring improved quality of life for all.


COMDIS
Communicable disease, vulnerability and risk: Research Programme Consortium is a DFID funded 5 year programme lead by the Nuffield Centre for International Health and Development (NCIHD), University of Leeds, UK in collaboration with research groups in seven countries (Uganda, Ghana, Swaziland, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and China). COMDIS has funded several research trials, studies and knowledge transfer projects through partner organization in respected countries. It has made it possible to "embed" research within the national programme implementation by close working relationship of NCIHD and its country partners. COMDIS specializes in evaluating effectiveness of interventions against TB, HIV, Malaria and other high burden diseases. The COMDIS particularly aims to design and test innovative service delivery approaches.

HERD is the collaborative partner of COMDIS for Nepal.

HERD mainly focuses in two areas of the work, namely health research and social development. Our activities are aimed at developing evidence based policy, and transferring policies into practice. We work for poor and vulnerable communities to increase access to quality services, as a result of our work; we facilitate to improve quality of life of people who are not yet reached by the programmes.
