An Introduction to HERD
The Health Research and Social Development Forum (HERD) is an independent, non-profit NGO established by a group of skilled professionals with considerable experience in health systems and social development. It aims to promote quality of life of people, especially of women, the poor and excluded, by delivering feasible and effective interventions.
HERD is a collaborative partner of COMDIS (Communicable Disease: Vulnerability, Risk and Poverty); Research Programme Consortium, a DFID-funded programme led by the Nuffield Centre for International Health and Development (NCIHD), University of Leeds, UK and also one of the sub-recipients of Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM) R7 in TB component.
The main objective of the organization is to contribute development, implementation and scale up evidence-based and cost-effective interventions in health and social sector. It supports the government initiatives aimed at poverty reduction in line with the Millennium Development Goals and targets.
