Involvement in Disease Control and Other Programme

Primarily, HERD was involved in TB control and gradually developed link with National AIDS Programme (NAP). In TB, we provided significant technical assistance to the NTP in adoption, implementation and expansion of DOTS nationwide through supporting strategies, guidelines, training materials and programme-based operational research (OR) development and implementation. Our work in PPM development and scale up and patient-friendly TB service delivery were highly acknowledged and gradually scaled up. We are the key partner of NTP helping in implementation of the Stop TB Strategy, developing urban TB programme guideline; TB HIV implementation guideline and training manuals and adopting the ISTC in local context. We took part in various NTP reviews and provided support in implementing the review recommendations. We are the key partner of NTP involved in OR since 1996, helping to understand issues, perform OR jointly and translate findings into practice. Our involvements have significantly contributed the NTP to design and implement patient-friendly approaches, promotion of patients' charter for effective TB service delivery.

Besides, HERD focuses on urban health delivering of basic health services to the urban poor especially slum dwellers, migrants, and factory workers. HERD has wider scope of work focused on social development and essential health care services (EHCS). We work on partnership and collaboration with different organization especially municipalities and relevant stakeholders. We also would like to address the emerging issues of climate change in health.
