Mr. Shyam Lal Kandel is an experienced primary health care management expert of Nepal, working in primary health care service delivery, monitoring evaluation, health systems strengthening and programme planning at the district, regional and national level. He has twenty five years of working experience in primary health care services, and planning, operational research and community mobilization for creating enabling working environment for friendly health service delivery in integrated approaches. He has a considerable professional experience in primary health care system, integrated primary health care services delivery, monitoring, planning, programme management especially tuberculosis, HIV AID and Maternal Newborn Health. He has contributed to the service system establishment Tuberculosis Programme (NTP), Maternal and New-born health programme services in integrated primary health care service approaches through JICA-NTP, WHO-NTP support programme and n of DFID-UNICEF's support programme to the Ministry of Health and population, Nepal.
Kandel’s areas of expertise includes designing, managing and monitoring and evaluation of Tuberculosis Programme and Maternal and New Born Health programme in line with National Tuberculosis Programme and Maternal Health & New-born Health, Ministry of Health, Government of Nepal. His other experiences are facilitating training, seminar and workshop especially disease control in appreciative inquiries approaches. He holds a Master’s degree in Primary Health Care Management (MPHM) with Profincy Certificate in General Medicine (HA) background from Mahidol University, Thailand.
